Over/Under Calc
Totals payouts from the line, both odds and stake.
How to Use This Calculator
- Pick your odds format
- Enter the line (think 2.5 goals or 47.5 points)
- Enter the over and under odds
- Punch in your stake
- See payouts, profits and margin
Formula
Payout = Stake × Decimal Odds
Margin = (1 / Over Odds) + (1 / Under Odds) − 1
Lines ending in .5 cannot push. Lines on whole numbers (2.0, 47.0) push if the total lands exactly on the line — the stake is returned.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are over/under bets?
Over/under (aka totals) bets are wagers on whether the combined score, goals or points in a game finishes higher (over) or lower (under) than a posted line. Lines like 2.5 (soccer) or 47.5 (NFL) are the go-tos; that .5 guarantees there’s no push.
What if the score lands right on the line?
When the line is a whole number (say 2.0) and the total matches it exactly, the bet pushes — your stake comes back with zero profit. Half-point lines (.5) sidestep this entirely. Quarter lines (.25, .75) split your stake so half pushes while half wins or loses.
Why do over/under odds hover around -110?
Bookies set the line to pull roughly equal money on both sides. The -110 price (decimal 1.91) bakes in the standard 4.5-5% bookmaker margin. Sharp books might dish out -105 or even -102 on their top markets.
How do you find value in totals?
Stack the bookie’s line against a model — Poisson for soccer, points-per-possession for basketball. If your projection beats the line by more than the margin, that can flag value. Always shop multiple books to grab the best line and price.
